Hey There!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner who earned her Ed.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Hampton University. I completed my internships and residency serving, mentoring, counseling, and developing adolescents and young adults. I am currently engaged in employment that affords me the opportunity to work with our deserving Veterans who are struggling with serious mental illnesses.
All About Me
As a native Philadelphian, I settled in Virginia after 20 years of Active Duty Service as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy. Throughout my adult life I accumulated numerous volunteer hours with organizations such as, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA, coaching Recreational Softball, and Church Youth Groups.
I have a heart for serving people and what better way to serve than by assisting them in becoming a better, more productive version of themselves. I am an encouraging and empathetic individual and family counselor, as well as, an engaging and enthusiastic group facilitator.
I have over 25 years of human services experience and I continue to bring an effective blend of Evidence Based Therapies (EBT), Christian Principles, and experience to the counseling relationship.
I have had great success with populations who are experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral issues (ODD, Conduct disorder), PTSD, crisis intervention, life stressors/adjustments, grief and loss, anger, impulsivity and communication/social skills deficits.
I was selected as an alternate to participate in the NMHCE's field test of the updated 2022 version of the exam.
